Falcon Walk 2011

On Saturday the 21st of May the DMP&D gave musical support to the Falcon Walk, a hiking event for both civilians and (national and international) military personnel. This event, which took place in the beautiful scenery surrounding Schaarsbergen and Arnhem, was organized by the 11 Luchtmobiele Brigade (Air Assault) for the 8th time in a row.

Covenant with 11 Luchtmobiele Brigade signed!

On the 8th of April Brigadier O.T. van Wiggen from C-11 Luchtmobiele Brigade and the board of DMP&D signed the long-expected covenant on the firing range Arnhemse Heide. This covenant forges a special bond between 11 Luchtmobiele brigade (AASLT) and DMP&D. The two will from now on work in a close connection, recognized by the IMMK (the Inspector of Military Music of the Armed Forces).After the traditional Pipes & Drums welcoming of the B-instruction troop of School Luchtmobiel and VAKOL and the red baret officialities, Brigadier Van Wiggen mentioned

Covenant to be signed with 11 Luchtmobiele Brigade

On the 8th of April the long-expected covenant will be signed with 11 Luchtmobiele Brigade. This covenant forges a special bond between 11 Luchtmobiele Brigade (AASLT) and DMP&D. The two will from now on work in a close connection, even though the band will not become an official part of the organisation. Signing of the covenant between C-11 Luchtmobiele Brigade (Brigadier O.T. van Wiggen) and the board of DMP&D will take place on the firing range Arnhemse Heide. Afterwards the B-instruction troops and VAKOL will be welcomed. At the same time the blue hackle will be ceremonially replaced by a maroon red version, which is the colour of the Luchtmobiele Brigade.

Opening of estate for veterans Vrijland

On Friday the 24th of June, nine members of the DMP&D performed in Schaarsbergen during the ceremony celebrating the opening of Vrijland, an estate for veterans who served our country in war situations and on peace missions. The Inspector-General of the Armed Forces, lieutenant-general A.C. Oostendorp, officially opened the estate by revealing a plaque.

Memorial for Fallen Regiment Communication and Information Systems 12th of May 2011

On the 12th of May three members of the DMP&D supported the annual Memorial for the Fallen of the Regiment Communication and Information Systems at the Bernhardkazerne in Amersfoort. With this ceremony, the 119 soldiers of the Regiment CIS who died during and after WWII are remembered. After the reading of the names ‘Amazing Grace’ was played by three band members (Lcol van Doorn, Lcol Patotzka and Capt. Zwolman) who also belong to the CIS Regiment. Since 2008 they are a part of this annual tradition, although until 2011 – when the School for CIS moved -  they performed individually and in turn.

5th Anniversary Military Pipes & Drums

The Dutch Military Pipes & Drums celebrated their fifth anniversary in Delft on Saturday the 22nd of January. After the official program in the Army Museum, where the 11 Luchtmobiele Brigade was also represented, the band performed in the town centre of Delft. In the Nieuwe Kerk, the famous church of Delft, the band played ‘Highland Cathedral’, accompanied by the church organ. This very successful day was concluded by a great party. Since its foundation on the 21st of January 2006 the band got more and more connected to the Defence organisation.
